“They have asked us to vacate immediately and if we refuse, police force will be used”
As an EU delegation visits Orissa at the start of February to see the scale of the devastation firsthand, the authorities have ordered over 90 victims to leave their temporary shelter in a market place, in an effort to show that normality has returned. Many victims cannot return to their villages unless they convert to Hinduism. Please pray for the EU delegation visit this week and add your prayer to the prayer wall.
Please pray: - That the EU delegation would see the true extent of the devastation and suffering. - That the EU will be able to respond appropriately and help to ensure the victims have access to justice and are able to rebuild their lives. - For God’s protection over innocent victims and that they would not be thrown out of shelters. - That the authorities would commit to achieving justice for all of the victims, and would be successful in this effort. - For CSW’s lobbying of the relevant authorities, and for NGOs working on the ground to help the victims.
